The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.6.41, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.6.41 contained in Chapter 6—Priyatama (the most beloved devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.6.41:

तदानीम् अपि नामीषां किञ्चित् त्वत्-प्रभुणा कृतम् ।
इदानीं साधित-स्वार्थो यच् चक्रेऽयं क्व वच्मि तत् ॥ ४१ ॥

tadānīm api nāmīṣāṃ kiñcit tvat-prabhuṇā kṛtam |
idānīṃ sādhita-svārtho yac cakre'yaṃ kva vacmi tat || 41 ||

When your Lord resided in Vraja for his own selfish interests, He did not do anything for the vraja-vāsīs. Now that all His selfish interests are complete, what is He doing? How can I comment on that subject?

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Śrī Rohiṇī-devī describes the essence and conclusion of the topic. Your Lord resided in Vraja in order to satisfy His selfish interests. Even then, He did not give any favor to the vrajavāsīs. Now all His selfish interests are resolved and he is happily residing here with His relatives and friends in Mathurā. He resided in Vraja for His temporary selfish motives in a hidden manner and thus accomplished his goal of killing Kaṃsa.

So, such activities as abandoning the vraja-vāsīs and others performed by our Lord, who do I describe them to? Nevertheless, it is not worth mentioning to anyone because no person here is suitable to hear those pastimes. It is also not appropriate to mention the subject of infamy of Śrī Kṛṣṇa to anyone. With this fear, Śrī Rohiṇī-devī concluded her speech in brief.
