by Śrī Śrīmad Bhaktivedānta Nārāyana Gosvāmī Mahārāja | 2005 | 440,179 words | ISBN-13: 9781935428329

The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.5.100, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.5.100 contained in Chapter 5—Priya (the beloved devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.5.100:

श्री-नारद उवाच—
भोः कृष्ण-पादाब्ज-महानुकम्पिता लोकोत्तरा माम् अधुना दयध्वम् ।
युष्माकम् एवाविरतं यथाहं कीर्तिं प्रगायन् जगति भ्रमेयम् ॥ १०० ॥

śrī-nārada uvāca
bhoḥ kṛṣṇa-pādābja-mahānukampitā lokottarā mām adhunā dayadhvam |
yuṣmākam evāvirataṃ yathāhaṃ kīrtiṃ pragāyan jagati bhrameyam || 100 ||

Śrī Nārada said: O Yādavas, being transcendental to this world, you have achieved the extraordinary mercy of the lotus feet of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Now bestow your mercy on me so I can constantly sing of your glories while roaming across the entire universe.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

The word lokattarā in this main śloka means either “the best among all worlds,” or “transcendental to this world.” The modifier eva in the phrase yusmākam eva implies the indifference of Śrī Nārada in glorifying any other persons than the Yādavas.
