The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.5.38, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.5.38 contained in Chapter 5—Priya (the beloved devotees)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.5.38:

नकुलः सहदेवश् च यादृक्-प्रीति-परौ यमौ ।
अग्र-पूजा-विचारादौ सर्वैस् तद्-वृत्तम् ईक्षितम् ॥ ३८ ॥

nakulaḥ sahadevaś ca yādṛk-prīti-parau yamau |
agra-pūjā-vicārādau sarvais tad-vṛttam īkṣitam || 38 ||

(Twin brothers) Nakula and Sahadeva also completely displayed the kind of affection they have for Śrī Kṛṣṇa at the time of the Rājasūya sacrifice by proposing to worship Śrī Kṛṣṇa first. This was observed by everyone.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Nakula and Sahadeva are full of the topmost affection for Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Here yamau (twin brothers) implies that the disposition of one is also tantamount to the disposition of the other—both had the same affection for Śrī Kṛṣṇa.

Agra-pūjā, that is, on the occasion of the Rājasūya sacrifice, who should be given first arghya or worship? All the people who were present in the Rājasūya sacrifice personally saw the nature of affection the twin brothers had towards Śrī Kṛṣṇa
