The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.4.88, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.4.88 contained in Chapter 4—Bhakta (the devotee)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.4.88:

प्रभोः प्रियतमानां तु प्रसादं परमं विना ।
न सिद्ध्यति प्रिया सेवा दासानां न फलत्य् अपि ॥ ८८ ॥

prabhoḥ priyatamānāṃ tu prasādaṃ paramaṃ vinā |
na siddhyati priyā sevā dāsānāṃ na phalaty api || 88 ||

Without the mercy of the dearmost devotees of Bhagavān, service by servants like me can never be successful or give any good result.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

In this way, due to the upsurge of prema while glorifying the Pāṇḍavas, with the desire of going to the palace of the Pāṇḍavas, namely, the necessity of going there, Śrī Hanumān is explaining the reason in four ślokas beginning with prabhoḥ.

Factually speaking, sevā rendered by the servant is dāsya and that service alone the dear objective, in other words, other than sevā there is nothing more precious to the servants than sevā alone. Despite doing service to Bhagavān, without the mercy of His beloved servant, Bhagavān does not give the topmost result to anyone, namely, he does not transmit the wealth of prema, because Bhagavān is controlled by His dear devotees.
