The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.3.15, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.3.15 contained in Chapter 3—Prapancatita (beyond the Material Plane)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.3.15:

कति वारांश् च कृष्णेन वरा विविध-मूर्तिभिः ।
भक्त्या भवन्तम् आराध्य गृहीताः कति सन्ति न ॥ १५ ॥

kati vārāṃś ca kṛṣṇena varā vividha-mūrtibhiḥ |
bhaktyā bhavantam ārādhya gṛhītāḥ kati santi na || 15 ||

Who knows how many times Śrī Kṛṣṇa assumes various forms to worship you with devotion to obtain your blessings?

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

This verse depicts and enhances the glories of Śrī Mahādeva beginning with kati (how many). How many times did Śrī Kṛṣṇa obtain benedictions from Śrī Śiva? Actually, He obtained benedictions many, many times. This description is especially worth reviewing in the Dāna-dharma section of the Vāmana Purāṇa, regarding the episode of the acquisition of the Sudarśana cakra, as well as retrieving Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s sons such as Sāmba.
