The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.2.8, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.2.8 contained in Chapter 2—Divya (the celestial plane)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.2.8:

अथ विष्णुं निजावासे गच्छन्तम् अनुगम्य तम् ।
सभायाम् आगतं शक्रम् आशस्योवाच नारदः ॥ ८ ॥

atha viṣṇuṃ nijāvāse gacchantam anugamya tam |
sabhāyām āgataṃ śakram āśasyovāca nāradaḥ || 8 ||

Afterwards Śrī Viṣṇu proceeded to His own residence while Devarāja Indra followed behind Him. When Indra returned to his assembly hall, Devarṣi Śrī Nārada began to shower him with blessings.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

After meeting the fortunate Devarāja Indra in the assembly hall, Śrī Nārada began to speak. Because of the direct presence of Śrī Viṣṇu, Śrī Nārada thought it inappropriate to comment on anything about Indra and did not speak at first. Now, after the departure Śrī Viṣṇu, Śrī Nārada began to speak to Indra by giving his blessings.
