The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 1.1.52, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 1.1.52 contained in Chapter 1—Bhauma (the earthly plane)—of Part one (prathama-khanda).

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.1.52:

देशश् च देव-विप्रेभ्यो राज्ञा दत्तो विभज्य सः ।
नोपद्रवो’स्ति तद्-देशे को’पि शोको’थवा भयम् ॥ ५२ ॥

deśaś ca deva-viprebhyo rājñā datto vibhajya saḥ |
nopadravo’sti tad-deśe ko’pi śoko’thavā bhayam || 52 ||

Although the Mahārāja himself donated and portioned out his kingdom to Bhagavān and the brāhmaṇas, nevertheless, the Mahārāja rules without any visible disturbance, distress or anxiety in that country.

Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda

(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)

Although the king had donated his kingdom, nevertheless all the people of that country lived peacefully.
