English translation of the Brahma-sutra 3.4.7 (prima facie view, concluded), including the commentary of Nimbarka and sub-commentary of Srinivasa known as Vedanta-parijata-saurabha and Vedanta-kaustubha resepctively. Brahma-Sūtra 3.4.7 (prima facie view, concluded)

English of translation of Brahmasutra 3.4.7 by Roma Bose:

“And on account of restriction.”

Nimbārka’s commentary (Vedānta-pārijāta-saurabha):

“And on account of the restriction,” viz.: “Only doing work here, let one desire to live a hundred years”, and so on (Īśā 2)[1]

Śrīnivāsa’s commentary (Vedānta-kaustubha)

“And on account of the restriction,” viz.: “Only doing work here, let one desire to live a hundred years. Thus work adheres to you, to a man. There is no other way than that” (Īśā 2), knowledge is subservient to work alone.
