Chapter 14 - Svayambhu-stotra
bauddhasahityatah From Bauddha Sahitya (Buddhistic Literature) svayambhustotram Svayambhu Stotra jagatkrte svayambhuvamanadilinamavyayam | tanorvipajjaratmakrtsvayambhuvam namamyaham ||1|| Jagatkrte svayambhuvamanadilinamavyayam. Tanorvipajjaratamakrtsvayambhuvari namamyahari. (1) He who is the prime 'Purusa', is not prime himself, is eternal, who is the calamity for the bodies of creatures, and is the cause of old age, I salute that svayambhu. (1) sahastrapatrapamkajam lasatsukarnikodbhavam | samastakamanapradam svayambhuvam namamyaham ||2|| Sahasrapatrapankajam lasatsukarnikodbhavam. Samastakamanapradamm svayambhuvam namamyaham. (2) Lord Brahma-born on the karnika of sahasradala kamala' (stalk of lotus having thousand petals), the fulfiller of the wishes of devotees, I salute you. (2) sahastrabhanuranjanam suradilokavandanam svayambhuvam Sahasrabhanuranjanam niyuttacandranandanam ! namamyaham ||3|| niyuttacandranandanam. Suradilokavandanam svayambhuvam namamyaham. Associated with the light of thousands of the Sun, equipped with the radiance of the Moon and prayed by all the lokas including the devaloka etc. Lord Brahma! I salute you. (3) tvameva rajase gunairbhuvi sthito virajase | tridhatukam vibhavase svayambhuvam namamyaham ||4||
Tvameva rajase (118) gunnairbhuvi sthito virajase. Tridhatukam vibhavase svayambhuvam namamyaham.(4) You are associated with these three gunas-Sattva, Rajas and Tamas, you are grand in this world only on the basis of these 'gunas'. You are associated with Tridhatuthe wind, the cough and bile. So, O Brahma! I salute you. (4) ayam ka ityayam hrda mimamsitum na saktavan | praghasamatramiksitah svayambhuvam namamyaham ||5|| Ayam ka ityayam hrda mimansitum na saktavan. Praghasamatramiksitah svayambhuvam namamyaham.(5) 'What you are'? I could understand nothing so far, inspite of thinking widely about you. For the whole of life I was busy in earning my livelihood. Being compelled, O God (Vidhata)! I salute you. (5) pathanti ye nara muda svayambhuvah stutim sada | trivargasiddhimapya te labhanti muktimeva tam ||6|| Pathanti ye nara muda svayambhuvah stutim sada. Trivargasiddhimapya te labhanti muktimeva tam. (6) The devotees who with a happy heart, read (recite) this stotra of svayambhu-acquire liberation also alongwith the 'trivarga'-dharma, artha and kama (the religion, the wealth, the wishes). (6) || sribrhatsvayambhupuranoddhrtam sikhinirmitam svayambhustotram samaptam || The end of the Svayambhustotra done by Sikhi derived from Brhatsvayambhupurana.
