Praśna 15, Kaṇḍikā 3

1. When the vasatīvarī water is going to be taken,[1] the Brahman should go along the south.

2. He should remain towards the south while it is being taken.[2]

3. When others wake up[3] for the Prātaranuvāka, he should wake.

4. His route should be the same as that[4] followed while the Sadas and the Havirdhāna were being measured.

5. After the reciting of the Prātaranuvāka[5] is initiated, he should restrain speech until the enclosing of the reciting.

6. When the water relating to the pressing is going to be taken,[6] he should go along the south.

7. He should remain towards the south while it is being taken.[7]

8. He should go along the south while it is being fetched.[8]

9. When the Soma is going to be pressed,[9] he should enter the Havirdhāna by the eastern door, cross over in front of the mound, and sit down towards the south.

10. He should remain towards the south while the Soma is being measured[10] and while it is being pressed[11].

11. While the cups are being filled in,[12] he should restrain speech. (H< should do so) until the filling in of the Āgrayaṇa vessel.[13]

12. Similarly at each pressing, he should remain towards the south while the Soma is being pressed; he should restrain speech while the cups are being filled in.[14]

13. When the relevant officiating priests are crawling for the Bahiṣpavamānastotra,[15] he should crawl maintaining contact.

14. When the Sāman-chanters are going to chant that Stotra,[16] he should sit down towards the south.
