Praśna 13, Kaṇḍikā 30
1. The Adhvaryu and the Pratiprasthātṛ should (each time) take up fresh Soma in their cups in which there are remnants of the former oblation.
2. The cups should be offered without being placed (on the mound).
3. The Adhvaryu should give out with regard to three Ṛtu cups the
call (to the Maitrāvaruṇa), “Do you call out with the season.” The Pratiprasthātṛ should also give out that call with regard to three Ṛtu cups.
4. Having turned the outlet of the Ṛtu cup,[1] the Adhvaryu should give out with regard to two Ṛtu cups the call, “Do you call out with the seasons.” The Pratiprasthātṛ also should turn the outlet of his Ṛtu cup and give out that call with regard to two Ṛtu cups.
5. Having turned the outlet of the Ṛtu cups, the Adhvaryu should give out with regard to his Ṛtu cup the call, “Do you call out with the season.” The Pratiprasthātṛ also should turn the outlet of his Ṛtu cup and give that call with regard to his Ṛtu cup.
6. When he listens (to the Maitrāvaruṇa addressing the call), “Do you, the two Adhvaryus, recite the yājyā,” the Adhvaryu should say, “Do you, O Hotṛ, recite the yājyā relating to this offering.”
7. When he listens (to the Maitrāvaruṇa addressing the call), “Do you, O lord of the house, recite the yājyā,” the sacrificer should say, “Do you, O Hotṛ, recite the yājyā relating to this offering.”
8. (The offerings of) the Ṛtu cups are without the secondary vaṣaṭ-utterance.
9. The Pratiprasthātṛ should pour down drops from his cup into that of the Adhvaryu; the Adhvaryu into that of the Pratiprasthātṛ.
10. The Pratiprasthātṛ should bring in his cup for consuming.
11. The Adhvaryu and the Pratiprasthātṛ should consume Soma with the formula, “Gentle control...”[2] in opposition respectively to the officiating priests successively reciting the yājyās: the Adhvaryu to the Hotṛ; the Pratiprasthātṛ to the Potṛ; the Adhvaryu to the Neṣṭṛ; the Pratiprasthātṛ to the Āgnīdhra; the Adhvaryu to the Brāhmaṇācchaṃsin; the Pratiprasthātṛ to the Maitrāvaruṇa; the Adhvaryu to the Hotṛ; the Pratiprasthātṛ to the Potṛ; the Adhvaryu to the Neṣṭṛ; tbe Pratiprasthātṛ to the Acchāvāka; the Adhvaryu to the Hotṛ; the Pratiprasthātṛ to the Hotṛ.
12. The cup should be placed down there. The Adhvaryu should draw with his cup.[3]
