The Bhajana-rahasya Text 40, English translation, including commentary (vritti). The Bhajana-rahasya is a compilation of verses describing the mercy of the eight pairs of names (Yugala-nama) of the Maha-mantra. This is text 40 belonging to the chapter “Dvitiya-yama-sadhana (Pratah-kaliya-bhajana)” representing the first six dandas of the morning: approximately 6.00 a.m.–8.30 a.m.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.7.39) also says:

प्राण-वृत्त्यैव सन्तुष्येन् मुनिर् नैवेन्द्रिय-प्रियैः
ज्ञानं यथा न नश्येत नावकीर्येत वाङ्-मनः

prāṇa-vṛttyaiva santuṣyen munir naivendriya-priyaiḥ
jñānaṃ yathā na naśyeta nāvakīryeta vāṅ-manaḥ

I have taken a lesson from how the vital force within the body operates: that one should eat and drink only as much as is required to sustain the body. A sādhaka should also eat only what is needed to maintain his life. He should not enjoy sense objects merely for his own gratification; otherwise his intelligence will become corrupted, his mind restless and his speech engaged in topics unrelated to Śrī Kṛṣṇa.

अप्रजल्पे कर प्राण-वृत्ति अङ्गीकार
इन्द्रियेर प्रिय-वृत्ति ना कर स्वीकार

aprajalpe kara prāṇa-vṛtti aṅgīkāra
indriyera priya-vṛtti nā kara svīkāra

वाग्-इन्द्रिय मनो-ज्ञान याहे स्वास्थ्य पाय
एइ रूप आहारे युक्त-वैराग्य ना याय

vāg-indriya mano-jñāna yāhe svāsthya pāya
ei rūpa āhāre yukta-vairāgya nā yāya
