tato'pi guhyatamamāha sarveti | madbhaktyaiva sarvaṃ bhaviṣyatīti dṛḍhaviśvāsena vidhikaiṅkaryaṃ tyaktvā madekaśaraṇaṃ bhava | evaṃ vartamānaḥ karmatyāganimittaṃ pāpaṃ syāditi śucaḥ mokṣaṃ kārṣīḥ | yatastvaṃ madekaśaraṇaṃ sarvapāpebhyo'haṃ mokṣayiṣyāmi ||66||

nanu taddhyānādikaṃ yatkaromi tatkiṃ svāśramadharmānuṣṭhānapūrvakaṃ , kevalaṃ ? tatrāha sarvadharmān varṇāśramadharmān sarvāneva parityajya ekaṃ māmeva śaraṇaṃ vraja | parityajya sannyasyeti na vyākhyeyamarjunasya kṣatriyatvena sannyāsādhikārātna cārjunaṃ lakṣīkṛtyānyajanasamudāyamevopadideśa bhagavāniti vācyam | lakṣyabhūtamarjunaṃ prati upadeśaṃ yojayitumaucitye satyevānyasyāpi upadeṣṭavyatvaṃ sambhavenna, tvanyathā na ca parityjyetyasya phalatyāga eva tātparyamiti vyākhyeyamasya vākyasya

devarṣibhūtāptanṝṇāṃ pitṝṇāṃ

nityakarmānuṣṭhānamādiṣṭamadhunā tu svarūpeṇaiva tattyāga ādiśyate ityataḥ kathaṃ te nityakarmākaraṇe pāpāni sambhavanti ? pratyuta ataḥ paraṃ nityakarmaṇi kṛta eva pāpāni bhaviṣyanti sākṣānmadājñālaṅghanādityavadheyam |

nanu yo hi yaccharaṇo bhavati, sa hi mūlyakrītaḥ paśuriva tadadhīnaḥ | sa taṃ yatkārayati, tadeva karoti | yatra sthāpayati tatraiva tiṣṭhati | yadbhojayati, tadeva bhuṅkte iti śaraṇāpattilakṣaṇasya dharmasya tattvam | yaduktaṃ vāyupurāṇe

ānukūlyasya saṅkalpaḥ prātikūlyasya varjanam |
rakṣiṣyatīti viśvāso goptṛtve[*ENDNOTE] varaṇaṃ tathā |
niḥkṣepanamakārpaṇyaṃ[*ENDNOTE] ṣaḍvidhā śaraṇāgatiḥ || iti |

bhaktiśāstravihitā svābhīṣṭadevāya rocamānā pravṛttirānukūlyaṃ tadviparītaṃ prātikūlyam | goptṛtve iti sa eva mama rakṣako nānya iti yat | rakṣiṣyatīti svarakṣaṇaprātikūlyavastuṣūpasthiteṣvapi sa māṃ rakṣiṣyatyeveti draupadīgajendrādīnāmiva viśvāsaḥ | niḥkṣepanaṃ svīyasthūlasūkṣmadehasahitasya eva svasya śrīkṛṣṇārtha eva viniyogaḥ | akārpaṇyaṃ nānyatra kvāpi svadainyajñāpanamiti ṣaṇṇāṃ vastūnāṃ vidhātranuṣṭhānaṃ yasyāṃ śaraṇāgatiriti |

tadadyārabhya yadyahaṃ tvāṃ śaraṇaṃ gata eva varte tarhi tvauktaṃ bhadramabhadraṃ yadbhavettadeva mama kartavyam | tatra yadi tvaṃ māṃ dharmameva kārayasi tadā na kāciccintā | yadi tvīśvaratvātsvairācārastvaṃ māmadharmameva kārayasi, tadā gatistatrāha ahamiti | prācīnārvācīnāni yāvanti vartante yāvanti ahaṃ kārayiṣyāmi tebhyaḥ sarvebhya eva pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi | nāhamanyaśaraṇya iva tatrāsamartha iti bhāvaḥ |

tvāmalambyaiva śāstramidaṃ lokamātramevopadiṣṭavānasmi | śucaḥ svārthaṃ parārthaṃ śokaṃ kārṣīḥ | yuṣmadādikaṃ sarva eva lokaḥ svaparadharmān sarvāneva parityajya maccintanādiparo māṃ śaraṇamāpadya sukhenaiva vartatām | tasya pāpamocanabhāraḥ saṃsāramocanabhāro'pi mayāṅgīkṛta eva |

ananyāścintayanto māṃ
ye janāḥ paryupāsate |
teṣāṃ nityābhiyuktānāṃ
yogakṣemaṃ vahāmyaham || (Gītā 9.22) iti |

hanta etāvān bhāro mayā svaprabhau nikṣipta ityapi śokaṃ mākārṣīrbhaktavatsalasya mama na tatrāyāsaleśo'pīti nātaḥ paramadhikamupadeṣṭavyamastīti śāstraṃ samāptīkṛtam ||66||

The Gītābhūṣaṇa commentary by Baladeva

nanu yajanapraṇatyādistava śuddhā bhaktiḥ prāktanakarmarūpānantapāpamalinahṛdā puṃsā kathaḥ śakyā kartuṃ yāvattvadbhaktivirodhīni tānyanantāni pāpāni kṛcchrādiprāyaścittaiḥ savihitaiśca dharmairna vinaśyeyuriti cettatrāha sarveti | prāktanapāpaprāyaścittabhūtān kṛcchrādīn savihitāṃśca sarvān dharmān parityajya svarūpatastyaktvā māṃ sarveśvaraṃ kṛṣṇaṃ nṛsiṃhadāśarathyādirūpeṇa bahudhāvirbhūtaṃ viśuddhabhaktigocaraṃ santamavidyāparyantasarvakāmavināśamekaṃ, na tu matto'nyaṃ śitikaṇṭhādiṃ śaraṇaṃ vraja prapadyasva | śaraṇyaḥ sarveśvaro'haṃ sarvapāpebhyo prāktanakarmabhyas
tvāṃ śaraṇāgataṃ mokṣayiṣyāmīti mithaḥkartavyatā darśitā | tvaṃ śucaḥ | acirāyuṣā mayā hṛdviśuddhamicchatāticirasādhyā duṣkarāśca te kṛcchrādayaḥ kathamanuṣṭheyā iti śokaṃ kārṣīrityarthaḥ |

atra matprapatturna bhavedityuktam | śrutiścaivamāha na karmaṇā na prajayā dhanena tyāgenaivke'mṛtatvamānaśuḥ iti | śraddhābhaktidhyānayogādavaitīti caivamādyā | saniṣṭhānāṃ hṛdviśuddhaye pariniṣṭhitānāṃ ca lokasaṅgrahāya yathāyathaṃ kāryāste dharmaḥ | tametamityādibhyaḥ satyena labhyastapasā hyeṣa ātmā ityādibhyaśca śrutibhyaḥ |

na ca vihitatyāge pratyavāyalakṣaṇaṃ pāpaṃ syāditi śokaṃ kurviti vyākhyeyam | vedanideśenāgnihotrādityāge yateriva pareśānideśena tattyāge tatprapattustadayogāt | pratyuta tannideśātikrame doṣāpattiḥ syāt | na ca svarūpato vihitatyāge pratyavāyāpatteḥ | sarvāṇi dharmaphalānīti vyākhyeyam | phalatyāge tadanāpatteḥ | tasmātprapannasya svarūpato dharmatyāgaḥ | na ca na hi kvacitityādi nyāyena svadharmānuṣṭhānāpattistadyajanādiniratasya tena nyāyena tadanāpatteḥ | tathā ca sanniṣṭhasyātmānubhavāntaḥpariniṣṭhitasya ca parātmānubhavānto yathā dharmācārastathā prapattuḥ śuddhāntaḥ sa iti evamevoktamekādaśe
