nanu dharmādharmayoḥ pravṛttinivṛttiviṣayayoḥ pratipādakaṃ vedākhyaṃ pramāṇamasti nirdoṣaṃ bhagavadājñārūpaṃ sarvalokaprasiddhaṃ tadupajīvīni ca smṛtipurāṇetihāsādīni santi, tatkathaṃ pravṛttinivṛttitatpramāṇādyajñānam | jñāne vājñollaṅghināṃ śāsitari bhagavati sati kathaṃ tadananuṣṭhānena śaucācārādirahitatvaṃ duṣṭānāṃ śāsiturbhagavato'pi lokavedaprasiddhatvādata āha asatyamiti | satyamabādhitatātparyaviṣayaṃ tattvāvedakaṃ vedākhyaṃ pramāṇaṃ tadupajīvi purāṇādi ca nāsti yatra tadasatyaṃ vedasvarūpasya pratyakṣasiddhatve

śāstraikasamadhigamyadharmādharmasahāyena prakṛtyadhiṣṭhātrā parameśvareṇa rahitaṃ jagadiṣyate cetkāraṇābhāvātkathaṃ tadutpattirityāśaṅkyāha aparasparasaṃbhūtaṃ kāmaprayuktayoḥ strīpuruṣayoranyonyasaṃyogātsaṃbhūtaṃ jagatkāmahaitukaṃ kāmahetukameva kāmahaitukaṃ kāmātiriktaakāraṇaśūnyam |

nanu dharmādyapyasti kāraṇam ? netyāha kimanyat, anyadadṛṣṭaṃ kāraṇaṃ kimasti ? nāstyevetyarthaḥ | adṛṣṭāṅgīkāre'pi kvacidgatvā svabhāve paryavasānātsvābhāvikameva jagadvaicitryamastu dṛṣṭe sambhavatyadṛṣṭakalpanānavakāśāt | ataḥ kāma eva prāṇināṃ kāraṇaṃ nānyadadṛṣṭeśvarādītyāhuriti lokāyatikadṛṣṭiriyam ||8||

asurāṇāṃ matamāha asatyaṃ mithyābhūtaṃ bhramopalabdhameva jagatte vadnait | apratiṣṭhaṃ pratiṣṭhāśrayastadrahitam | na hi khapuṣpasya kiñcidadhiṣṭhānamastīti bhāvaḥ | anīśvaraṃ mithyābhūtatvādeva īśvarakartṛkametanna bhavati | svedajādīnāmakasmādeva jātatvātaparasparasambhūtam | anyatkiṃ vaktavyam | kāmahaitukaṃ kāmo vādināmicchaiva heturyasya tat | mithyābhūtatvādeva ye yathā kalpayituṃ śaknuvanti tathiavaitaditi |

atha svabhāvavādināṃ bauddhānāmāha aparasparasambhūtamiti strīpuruṣasambhogajanyaṃ jaganna bhavati ghaṭotpādane kulālasyeva bālotpādane pitrāderjñānābhāvātsatyapyasakṛtsambhoge santānānutpatteśca svedajādīnāmakasmādutpatteśca | tasmātsvabhāvādevedaṃ bhavatīti |

atha lokāyatikānāmāha kāmahetukamiti | kimanyadvācym | strīpuruṣayoḥ kāma eva pravāhātmanā heturasyeti svārthe ṭhañ | athavā jainānāmāha kāmaḥ svecchayaiva heturasyeti | yuktibalena yo yatkalpayituṃ śaknuyātsa tadeva tasya hetuṃ vadatītyarthaḥ ||8||

etāṃ dṛṣṭimavaṣṭabhya naṣṭātmāno'lpabuddhayaḥ |
prabhavantyugrakarmāṇaḥ kṣayāya jagato'hitāḥ ||9||

kiṃ ca etāmiti | etāṃ lokāyatikānāṃ dṛṣṭiṃ darśanamāśritya naṣṭātmano malīmasacittāḥ santo'lpabuddhayo duṣṭārthamātramatayaḥ | ateva ugraṃ hiṃsraṃ karma yeṣāṃ te ahitā vairiṇo bhūtvā jagataḥ kṣayāya prabhavanti udbhavantītyarthaḥ ||9||
