brahmaṇo hi pratiṣṭhāhamamṛtasyāvyayasya ca |
śāśvatasya ca dharmasya sukhasyaikāntikasya ca ||27||

tatra hetumāha brahmaṇo hīti | hi yasmādbrahmaṇo'haṃ pratiṣṭhā pratimā | ghanībhūtaṃ brahmaivāham | yathā ghanībhūtaḥ prakāśa eva sūryamaṇḍalaṃ tadvadityarthaḥ | tathāvyayasya nityasya | amṛtasya mokṣasya ca nityamuktatvāt | tathā tatsādhanasya śāśvatasya dharmasya ca śiddjasattvātmakatvāt | tathaikāntikasya akhaṇḍitasya sukhasya ca pratiṣṭhāham | paramānandaikrūpatvāt | ato matsevino madbhāvasyāvaśyambhāvitvādyuktamevoktaṃ brahmabhūyāya kalpata iti ||

kṛṣṇādhīnaguṇāsaṅgaprasañjitabhavāmbudhim |
sukhaṃ tarati madbhakta ityabhāṣi caturdaśe ||

iti śrīśrīdharasvāmikṛtāyāṃ bhagavadgītāṭīkāyāṃ subodhinyāṃ

atra hetumāha brahmaṇa iti | brahmaṇastatpadavācyasya sopādhikasya jagadutpattisthitilayahetoḥ pratiṣṭhā pāramārthikaṃ nirvikalpalpakaṃ saccidānandātmakaṃ nirupādhikaṃ tatpadalakṣyamahaṃ nivikalpako vāsudevaḥ pratitiṣṭhatyatreti pratiṣṭhā kalpitarūparahitamakalpitaṃ rūpam | ato yo māmupādhikaṃ brahma sevate sa brahmabhūyāya kalpata iti yuktameva |

kīdṛśasya brahmaṇaḥ pratiṣṭhāhamityākāṅkṣāyāṃ viśeṣaṇāni amṛtasya vināśarahitasya, avyayasya vipariṇāmarahitasya ca, śāśvatasyāpakṣayarahitasya ca, dharmasya jñānaniṣṭhālakṣaṇadharmaprāpyasya, sukhasya paramānandarūpasya | sukhasya viṣayendriyasaṃyogajatvaṃ vārayati aikāntikasyāvyabhicāriṇaḥ sarvasmin deśe kāle ca vidyamānasyaikāntikasukharūpasyetyarthaḥ | etādṛśasya brahmaṇo yasmādahaṃ vāstavaṃ svarūpaṃ tasmānmadbhaktaḥ saṃsārānmucyata iti bhāvaḥ | tathā coktaṃ brahmaṇā bhagavantaṃ śrīkṛṣṇaṃ prati

ekastvamātmā puruṣaḥ purāṇaḥ
satyaḥ svayaṃ jyotirananta ādyaḥ |
nityo'kṣaro'jasrasukho nirañjanaḥ
pūrṇo'dvayo mukta upādhito'mṛtaḥ || [10.14.23] iti |

atra sarvopādhiśūnya ātmā brahma tvamityarthaḥ | śukenāpi stutimantareṇaivoktam

sarveṣāmapi vastūnāṃ bhāvārtho bhavati sthitaḥ |
tasyāpi bhagavān kṛṣṇaḥ kimatadvastu rūpyatām || [BhP 10.14.57] iti |

sarveṣāmeva kāryavastūnāṃ bhāvārthaḥ sattārūpaḥ paramārtho bhavati kāryākāreṇa jāyamāne sopādhike brahmaṇi sthitaḥ kāraṇasattātiriktāyāḥ kāryasattāyā anabhyupagamāt | tasyāpi bhavataḥ kāraṇasya sopādhikasya brahmaṇo bhāvārthaḥ sattārūpo'rtho bhagavān kṛṣṇaḥ sopādhikasya nirupādhike kalpitatvātkalpitasya cādhiṣṭhānānatirekāt, bhagavataḥ kṛṣṇasya ca sarvakalpanādhiṣṭhānatvena paramārthasatyanirupādhibrahmarūpatvāt | ataḥ kimatadvastu tasmācchrīkṛṣṇādanyadvastu paramārthikaṃ kiṃ nirūpyatāṃ tadevaikaṃ paramārthikaṃ nānyatkimapītyarthaḥ | tadetadihāpy
uktaṃ brahmaṇo hi pratiṣṭhāhamiti |

athavā tvadbhaktastvadbhāvamāpnotu nāma kathaṃ nu brahmabhāvāya kalpyate brahmaṇaḥ sakāśāttavānyatvādityāśaṅkyāha brahmaṇo hīti | brahmaṇaḥ paramātmanaḥ pratiṣṭhā paryāptirahameva na tu madbhinnaṃ brahmetyarthaḥ | tathāmṛtasya amṛtatvasya mokṣasya cāvyayasya sarvathānucchedyasya ca ca pratiṣṭhāhameva | mayyeva mokṣaḥ paryavastio matprāptireva mokṣa ityarthaḥ | tathā śāśvatasya nityamokṣaphalasya dharmasya jñānaniṣṭhālakṣaṇasya ca paryāptirahameva | jñānaniṣṭhālakṣaṇo dharmo mayyeva paryavasito na tena madbhinnaṃ kiṃcitprāpyamityarthaḥ | tathaikāntikasya
sukhasya ca paryāptirahameva parmānandarūpatvānna madbhinnaṃ kiṃcitsukhaṃ prāpyamastītyarthaḥ | tasmādyuktamevoktaṃ madbhakto brahmabhūyāya kalpata iti ||27||

nanu madbhaktānāṃ kathaṃ nirguṇabrahmatvaprāptiḥ ? tu advitīyatadekānubhavenaiva sambhavet | tatrāha brahmaṇo hīti | hi yasmātparamapratiṣṭhātvena prasiddhaṃ yadbrahma tasyāpyahaṃ pratiṣṭhā pratiṣṭhīyate'sminniti pratiṣṭhā āśrayo'nnamayādiṣu śrutiṣu sarvatraiva pratiṣṭhāpadasya tathārthatvāt | tathāmṛtasya pratiṣṭhā kiṃ svargīyasudhāyāḥ ? na | avyayasya nāśarahitasya mokṣasyetyarthaḥ | tathā śāśvatasya dharmasya sādhanaphaladaśayorapi nityasthitasya bhaktyākhyasya paramadharmasyāhaṃ pratiṣṭhā, tathā tatprāpyasyaikāntikabhaktasambandhinaḥ sukhasya premṇaś
cāhaṃ pratiṣṭhā | ataḥ sarvasyāpi madadhīnatvātkaivalyakāmanayā kṛtena madbhajanena brahmaṇi līyamāno brahmatvamapi prāpnoti |

atra brahmaṇo'haṃ pratiṣṭhā ghanībhūtaṃ brahmaivāhaṃ yathā ghanībhūtaprakāśa eva sūryamaṇḍalaṃ tadvadityarthaḥ iti svāmicaraṇāḥ | sūryasya tejorūpatve'pi yathā tejasa āśrayatvamapyucyate | evaṃ me kṛṣṇasya brahmarūpatve'pi brahmaṇaḥ pratiṣṭhātvamapi | atra śrīviṣṇupurāṇamapi pramāṇam śubhāśrayaḥ sa cittasya sarvagasya tathātmanaḥ [ViP 6.7.76] iti vyākhyātaṃ ca tatrāpi svāmicaraṇaiḥ | sarvagasyātmanaḥ parabrahmaṇo'pi āśrayaḥ pratiṣṭhā | taduktaṃ bhagavatā brahmaṇo hi pratiṣṭhāhamiti | tathā viṣṇudharme'pi narakadvādaśīprasaṅge

prakṛtau puruṣe caiva brahmaṇyapi sa prabhuḥ |
yathaika eva puruṣo vāsudevo vyavasthitaḥ || iti |

tatraiva māsarkṣapūjāprasaṅe

yathācyutastvaṃ parataḥ parasmāt
sa brahmabhūtātparataḥ parātmā | iti |

tathā harivaṃśe'pi viprakumārānayanaprasaṅge arjunaṃ prati śrībhagavadvākyaṃ

tatparaṃ paramaṃ brahma sarvaṃ vibhajate jagat |
mamaiva tadghanaṃ tejo jñātumarhasi bhārata || (HV 2.114.11-12)

brahmasaṃhitāyāmapi (5.40)

yasya prabhā prabhavato jagadaṇḍakoṭi
koṭīṣvaśeṣavasudhādivibhūtibhinnam |
tadbrahma niṣkalamanantamaśeṣabhūtaṃ
govindamādipuruṣaṃ tamahaṃ bhajāmi || iti |

aṣṭamaskandhe ca (8.24.38)

madīyaṃ mahimānaṃcca parabrahmeti śabditam |
vetsyasyanugṛhītaṃ me sampraśnairvivṛtaṃ hṛdi || iti bhagavaduktiśca |

madhusūdanasarasvatīpādāśca vyācakṣate sma yathā nanu tvadbhaktastvadbhāvamāpnotu nāma kathaṃ brahmabhūyāya kalpate brahmaṇaḥ sakāśāttavānyatvādityāśaṅkyāha brahmaṇo hīti | pratiṣṭhā paryāptirahameveti | paryāptiḥ paripūrṇatā ityamaraḥ |

parākṛtamanodvandvaṃ
paraṃ brahma narākṛti |
saundaryasārasarvasvaṃ
vande nandātmajaṃ mahaḥ || ityupaślokayāmāsuśca ||27||

anartha eva traiguṇyaṃ nistraiguṇyaṃ kṛtārthatā |
tacca bhaktyaiva bhavatītyadhyāyārtho nirūpitaḥ ||
iti sārārthavarṣiṇyāṃ harṣiṇyāṃ bhaktacetasām |
caturdaśo'yaṃ gītāsu saṅgataḥ saṅgataḥ satām ||14||

The Gītābhūṣaṇa commentary by Baladeva

nanu tadvivekakhyātyā tvadekabhaktyā ca guṇātīto labdhasvarūpo brahmaśabdito muktaḥ kathaṃ tiṣṭhediti cettatrāha brahmaṇo hīti | hirniścaye | brahmaṇastatpūrvakayā tayā sattvādyāvaraṇātyayādāvirbhāvitasvaguṇāṣṭakasyāmṛtasya mṛitirnirgatasyāvyayasya tādrūpyaṇaikarasasya muktasya madatipriyasyāhameva vijñānānandamūrtiranantaguṇo niravadyaḥ suhṛtatamaḥ sarveśvaraḥ | pratiṣṭhā pratiṣṭhīyate'tra iti nirukteḥ paramāśrayo'tipriyo bhavāmīti tādṛśaṃ māṃ parayā bhaktyānubhavaṃstiṣṭhatīti | na matto viśleṣaleśo na ca punarāvartate, yadgatvā na nivartante muktānāṃ paramā gatiḥ iti smṛtibhyaḥ |

nanu muktastvāṃ kathaṃ śrayeta śravaṇaphalasya mukterlābhāditi cedastyatiśayitaṃ phalamiti bhāvenāha śāśvatasya sādhāraṇasya sukhasya ca vicitralīlārasasyāhameva pratiṣṭheti | tīvrānandarūpatadvibhūtimallīlānubhavāya māmeva samāśrayatītyevamāha śrutiḥ raso vai saḥ, rasaṃ hyevāyaṃ labdhvānandī bhavati [TaittU 2.7.1] iti ||27||

saṃsāro guṇayogaḥ syādvimokṣastu guṇātyayaḥ |
tatsiddhirharibhaktyaivetyetadbuddhaṃ caturdaśāt ||

iti śrīmadbhagavadgītopaniṣadbhāṣye caturdaśo'dhyāyaḥ
