nanvevaṃ prakṛtyadhīneva cetpuruṣasya pravṛttistarhi vidhiniṣedhaśāstrasya vaiyarthyaṃ prāptamityāśaṅkyāha indriyasyeti | indriyasyendriyasyetivīpsayā sarveṣāmindriyāṇāṃ pratyekamityuktam | arthe svasvaviṣaye'nukūle rāgaḥ pratikūle dveṣa ityevaṃ rāgadveṣau vyavasthitāvavaśyaṃ bhāvinau | tataśca tadanurūpā pravṛttiriti bhūtānāṃ prakṛtiḥ | tathāpi tayorvaśavartī na bhavediti śāstreṇa niyamyate | hi yasmād | asya mumukṣostau parinpanthinau pratipakṣau | ayaṃ bhāvaḥ viṣayasmaraṇādinā rāgadveṣaāvutpādyānavahitaṃ puruṣamanarthe'tigambhīre
srotasīva prakṛtirbalā pravartayati | śāstraṃ tu tataḥ prāgeva viṣayeṣu rāgadveṣapratibandhake parameśvarabhajanādau taṃ pravartayati | tataśca gambhīrasrotaḥpātātpūrvameva nāvamāśrita iva nānarthaṃ prāpnoti | tadevaṃ svābhāvikī paśvādisadṛśīṃ pravṛttiṃ tyaktvā dharme pravartitavyamityuktam ||34||

tayo rāgadveṣayorvaśaṃ nāgacchettadadhīno na pravarteta nivarteta kintu śāstrīyatadvipakṣajñānena tatkāraṇavighaṭanadvārā tau nāśayet | hi yasmāttau rāgadveṣau svābhāvikadoṣaprayuktāvasya puruṣasya śreyo'rhtinaḥ paripanthinau śatrū śreyomārgasya vighnakartārau dasyū iva pathikasya | idaṃ ca dvayā ha prājāpatyā devāścāsurāśca tataḥ kānīyasā eva devā jyāyasā asurāsta eṣu lokeṣvaspardhanta ityādiśrutau svābhāvikarāgadveṣanimittaśāstraviparītapravṛttimasuratvena śāstrīyapravṛttiṃ ca devatvena nirūpya vyākhyātamativistareṇetyuparamyate ||34||

yasmādduḥsvabhāveṣu lokeṣu vidhiniṣedhaśāstraṃ na prabhavati, tasmādyāvatpāpābhyāsotthaduḥsvabhāvo nābhūttāvadyatheṣṭamindriyāṇi na cārayedityāha indriyasendriyasyeti vīpsā pratyekam | sarvendriyāṇāmarthe svasvaviṣaye parastrīmātragātradarśanasparśanatatsampradānakadravyadānādau śāstraniṣiddhe'pi rāgastathā guruvipratīrthātithidarśanasparśanaparicaraṇatatsampradānakadhanavitaraṇādau śāstravihite'pi dveṣa ityetau viśeṣaṇāvasthitau vartete | tayorvaśamadhīnatvaṃ na prāpnuyāt | yadvā, indriyārthe strīdarśanādau rāgastatpratighāte kenacitkṛte sati dveṣa ityasya puruṣārthasādhakasya kvacittu mano'nukūle'rthe surasasnigdhānnādau

anādikālapravṛttā hi vāsanā niṣṭhānubandhitvajñānābhāvasahakṛteneṣṭasādhanatvajñānena niṣiddhe'pi paradārasambhāṣaṇādau rāgamutpādya puṃsaḥ pravartayati | tatheṣṭasādhanatvajñānābhāvasahakṛtenāniṣṭasādhanatvajñānena vihite'pi satsambhāṣaṇādau dveṣamutpādya tatastānnivartayati | śāstraṃ kila satprasaṅgaśrutamaniṣṭānubhandhitvabodhanena niṣiddhānmano'nukūlādapi nivartayati dveṣamutpādya | iṣṭānubandhitvabodhanena vihite manaḥpratikūle'pi rāgamutpādya pravartayatīti na vidhiniṣedhaśāstrayorvaiyarthyamiti ||34||
