nanvevamaśocyānanvaśocacastvamityādinā bhīṣmādibandhuvicchedanibandhane śoke'panīte'pi tadvadhakartṛtvanibandhanasya pāpasya nāsti pratīkāraḥ | nahi yatra śoko nāsti tatra pāpaṃ nāstīti niyamaḥ | dveṣyabrāhmaṇavadhe pāpābhāvaprasaṅgāt | ato'haṃ kartā tvaṃ preraka iti dvayorapi hiṃsānimittapātakāpatterayuktamidaṃ vacanaṃ tasmādyudhyasva bhāratetyāśaṅkya kāṭhakapaṭhitaya rcā pariharati bhagavān ya enamiti |

atra ya enaṃ vetti hantāraṃ hataṃ cetyetāvati vaktavye padānāmāvṛttirvākyālaṅkārārthā | athavā ya enaṃ vetti hantāraṃ tārkikādirātmanaḥ kartṛtvābhyupagamāt | tathā yaścainaṃ manyate hataṃ cārvākādirātmano vināśitvābhyupagamāt | tāvubhau na vijānīta iti yojyam | vādibhedakhyāpanāya pṛthagupanyāsaḥ | atiśūrātikātaraviṣayatayā pṛthagupadeśaḥ | hantā cenmanyate hantuṃ hataścenmanyate hatam [KaṭhU 1.2.19] iti pūrvārdhe śrautaḥ pāṭhaḥ ||19||
