ubhayāyanaṃ-mārgadvayaprapannaṃ, kaphamārutasaṃsṛṣṭamasādhyaṃsādhayitumaṣakyam| asādhyatve hetudvayamāha-aṣakyaprātilomyatvādityādi| anulomaviparītaḥ-pratilomaḥ, tasya bhāvaḥ prātilomyam| aṣakyaṃ-kartumaṣakyaṃ prātilomyaṃ yasya raktasya tadaṣakyaprātilomyam| tasya bhāvo'ṣakyaprātilomyatvam| tasmādubhayāyanaṃ raktapittamasādhyam| abhāvādauṣadhasya ca,-etadyogyauṣadhāsampatteṣcaitadasādhyam| nanu, kathamevamucyate? ityāha-na hītyādi| hi-yasmāt, tadasya saṃṣodhanaṃ pratilomagaṃ na kiñcidasti| yacca pratilomagaṃ saṃṣodhanaṃ tadraktapitte bhiṣagjitaṃauṣadham| tacca tathābhūtamauśadhaṃ na sambhavati yattatra saṃṣamanārthaṃ dīyate| yadyadhomārgāpekṣayā dīyate tadānīmūrdhvabhāgapravṛttaṃ raktaṃ pravṛddhaṃ sampadyate| athordhvamārgāpekṣayā virecanamupayujyate tadā'dhogaṃ raktapittaṃ varddhate| evamasya pratilomagamauṣadhaṃ ṣodhanaṃ na sambhavati| tasmādauṣadhasyābhāvaḥ| bhiṣagjitamiti bhiṣak'a'aṣabdāt kaṇḍvādiyagantānniṣṭhā iṭca| svabhāvāccāyaṃ bheṣajavācī| nanu, ubhayāyanasya raktapittasya saṃṣodhanarūpamauṣadhaṃ bhavatu| ṣamanarūpaṃ tvauṣadhamasya ṣamāya bhaviṣyatīti "abhāvādauṣadhasya ca" ityayuktamuditam, ityāṣaṅkyāhaevamevetyādi| yathā ṣodhanamasya-ubhayāyanasya, ṣamanāya na sambhavati tathā ṣamanamapi yadauṣadhaṃ tadapyetasya ṣamanaṃ na sambhavati| kuto hetoḥ? ityāha-saṃsṛṣṭeṣvityādi| hi-yasmāt, saṃsṛṣṭeṣu triṣu doṣeṣu yatsarvajicśamanaṃ taddhitam| tacca santarpaṇāpatarpaṇarūpatvāddvividham| tatra yadi santarpaṇaṃ bṛṃhaṇaṃ ṣamanamadhomārgapravṛttaraktapittadoṣāpekṣayā mārutaṣāntyarthamupayujyate tadā tacśāntiṃ kurvato raktapittavikārakaraṇasya ṣleṣmaṇo vṛddhaye sampadyate| athāpatarpaṇamūrdhvabhāgapravṛttadoṣāpekṣayā kaphaṣāntyarthamupayujyate tadānīṃ tasya ṣāntiṃ kurvato'dhogaraktapittasya kāraṇaṃ vāyuṃ prakopayet| na cobhayātmakamekaṃ nṛsiṃharūpavat ṣamanamasti yatprayojitamubhayāyanasya ṣamanāya syāt| tasmādubhayāyanamasādhyam|
