śirāvyadhavidhimadhyāyaṃ vyākhyātuṃ pratijānīte-atheti| saṅgrahe tu (sū.a. 36)-"bahavo hi raktāvasecanopāyāḥ prāgabhihitāḥ| teṣāmanyeṣāṃ ca virekādīnāmupakramāṇāṃ tatsādhyeṣvāmayeṣu śirāvyadhaḥ pradhānam| amunā hi te samūlāḥ śoṣamāyānti kedārasetubhedena śālyādaya iva| tathā ca| śirāvyadhaśchikitsārdhaṃ sampūrṇaṃ cikitsitam| śalyatantre smṛto yadvadbastiḥ kāyacikitsite|| yathā raktamadhiṣṭhānaṃ vikārāṇāṃ vikāriṇām| anyanna hi tathā dūṣyaṃ karmedaṃ prathamaṃ tataḥ|| tatrāmbu śārīramāhārasārabhūtaṃ rasākhyamavikṛtamavikṛtena tejasā rañjitaṃ raktamāhuḥ|"iti|

lohitaṃ madhuraguṇaṃ(rasaṃ), tathā, īṣallavaṇaṃ, kiñcicchabda īṣadarthe, tathā'śītoṣṇaṃ-nañīṣadarthe, īṣacchītamīṣaduṣṇaṃ, tathā'saṃhataṃ-dravaṃ, śuddhaṃ syāt| samprati varṇataḥ śuddhalohitalakṣaṇamāha-padmetyādi| indragopaḥ-mṛganakṣatrotpannaḥ kīṭakaviśeṣaḥ| hemakanakam| aviḥ-meṣaḥ| aviśaśayorlohitaśabdena raktavācinā sambandhaḥ| padmādīnāṃ dvandvaḥ| padmendragopahemāviśaśalohitamiva lohitaṃ-raktavarṇaṃ, yadraktaṃ tacchuddhaṃ syāt| tacca tanoḥ-śarīrasya, prabhavaḥutpattihetuḥ| tenaivaraktena, tanoḥ sthitiḥ-prabandhāvicchedalakṣaṇā| anekadṛṣṭāntopādānaṃ ca śuddharaktasyānekavarṇadarśanāt|
