sakthinī dve dvau bāhū iti śākhāḥ, tāsu gatāḥ-tata utpannāḥ| evaṃ koṣṭho-mahāsrotaḥ, tatra gatāḥ-koṣṭhagatāḥ| tathā, marmāṇi ca ūrdhvaṃ ca sarve cāvayavāśca marmordhvasarvāvayavāḥ, teṣāmaṅgaṃ, tatra jātā marmordhvasarvāvayavāṅgajāḥ| tatra marmāṇi-marmavibhāge (hṛ. 5 śā. a. 4) vakṣyante| ūrdhvaśabdenordhvajatru gṛhyate, tatra jātā ūrdhvāṅgajāḥ,-mukharogādayaḥ, sarvāṅgajāḥjvarādayaḥ, avayavajāḥ-śvitrādayaśca, ye rogā vidyante teṣāṃ janmani-utpattau, vāyoraparaḥ kaścidapi heturnāsti| katham? paraṃ,-atiśayena| kiñcinmātreṇānubalabhāvena pittaśleṣmāṇāvapi hetū bhavata eva| yathā,pāmākaṇḍvādīnām| avayavagrahaṇenaivordhvagrahaṇe labdha ūrdhvagrahaṇaṃ prādhānyakhyāpanārtham| yathā,brāhmaṇā āyātā vasiṣṭho'pyāyāta iti| etadevādhikṛtya vakṣyamāṇāḥ pañca vidhayaḥ sakalamevottaraṃ ca tantraṃ pradhānam| tasmātpradhānā ūrdhvāṅgajāḥ| nanu, kuto hetormaruta eteṣu kāraṇatvamityāha-viḍityādi| viṭ ca śleṣmā ca pittaṃ ca viṭśleṣmapittāni, tānyādiryeṣām| ādiśabdena mūtrasvedādiparigrahaḥ| ete'pi hi śarīramalinīkarānmalāḥ, teṣāmuccayāḥ-sañcayāḥ, teṣāṃ sa vāyuryasmādvikṣepasaṃhārakaraḥ-vikṣepaśca saṃhāraśca vikṣepasaṃhārau, tau karotīti| "kṛño hetutācchīlya" ityādinā hetau ṭaḥ| vikṣepasaṃhārakaraṇaheturityarthaḥ| tasya kriyāvattvāt| vāyuśca śeṣadoṣābhyāṃ na kadācidvikṣipyate saṃhriyate | tayorniṣkriyatvāt| tasya ca vāyoḥ pravṛddhasya śamanārthaṃ bastimantareṇāparaṃ bheṣajaṃ nāsti| snehasvedādikaṃ tu vidyamānamapi na tathā samartham, ityagaṇyatvāttadavidyamānamucyate| tasmāt-doṣapradhānasya pavanasya śamanārthātkāraṇāt, bastiścititsārddha iti kathitaḥ| ekaiścācāryairniravaśeṣā'pi cikitsā bastiḥ pradiṣṭaḥ| nanu, "caturṇāṃ bhiṣajādīnāṃ" (ca. sū. a. 9|5) ityādilakṣaṇā cikitsā| tatkathaṃ tasyā bhāgakalpanā kartuṃ yujyate? na ca sarvā cikitsā bastiriti vaktuṃ śakyate, śeṣacikitsāśāstravistarasthānarthakyaprasaṅgāt| tasmādetadayuktamivābhāti| atrocyate| vāyuvikārā aśītiruktāḥ| pittaśleṣmavikārāśca ṣaṣṭiruktāḥ| tatra vātavikārāṇāṃ pradhānopakramo bastiḥ, tasmāccikitsārdho bastiḥ kāryadvāreṇoktaḥ| athavā mārutaṃ pittaśleṣmaviṭsahitaṃ bastiḥ samūlamevāpakarṣatītyuktatvāt sarvaiva cikitsā kāryadvāreṇa bastirekairupadiṣṭaḥ| anyatrāpi caivaṃprāyo nirdeśaḥ kṛta evācāryaiḥ| tathā ca muniḥ (ca. ci. a. 29|140) - "yānīha karmāṇyuktāni visarpavinivṛttaye| ekatastāni sarvāṇi raktamokṣaṇamekataḥ||" iti| 'cikitsārddhaṃ' ityayaḥ tu pāṭho na yukta eva| arddhaśabdasya hi samapravibhāga eva napuṃsakatvam| na cātra samapravibhāgo gamyate| tasmānnapuṃsakatvamatrānyāyyam|
