sarveṣāṃ rogāṇāṃ yasmāddoṣā evaikakāraṇam| ekaṃpradhānaṃ ca tatkāraṇaṃ-nimittamekakāraṇam| yadi vā sarveṣāṃ rogāṇāṃ doṣā ekaṃ-tulyaṃ kāraṇam, samānaṃ kāraṇamityarthaḥ| evaśabdo'vadhāraṇārthaḥ| doṣā eva kāraṇam, nāparaṃ kiñcidvastujātam| atra dṛṣṭāntamāhayathetyādi| pakṣī-prācikādiḥ, yathā sarvataḥ-samantāt, paripatan-bhraman, sarvamapyahaḥ-sakalamapi divasam, ātmīyāṃ chāyāṃ nātyeti-nātikrāmati, tayā vinā kṣaṇamapyasau nopalabhyata ityarthaḥ| tathā anyadapi nidarśanamāha-yathā vetyādi| yathā vā kṛtsnaṃ-niravaśeṣam,10 etadvikārajātaṃ-sthāvarajaṅgamādibhedabhinnaṃ jarāyujāṇḍajādibhedabhinnaṃ vā, vividhaṃ-nānāprakāraṃ, trīn guṇān-sattvarajastamaḥsaṃjñān, nātivartate-nātyeti, tribhiretairvirahitaṃ na jātucidbhavatītyarthaḥ| tathā svadhātvityādi| dhātavo-doṣadhātumalāḥ śarīradhāraṇasāmānyāt, teṣāṃ vaiṣamyaṃ-svalakṣaṇato'nyathātvam, svadhātuvaiṣamyaṃ nimittaṃ yasya tadvikārajātaṃ trīn doṣānātikrāmati, tridoṣarahitaṃ na sambhavatītyarthaḥ| dhātuvaiṣamyaṃ ca pratirogamanyādṛśatvānnānāvidham|
yattu yena dhātuvaiṣamyeṇa janyate, tattasya svaṃsvīyaṃ bhavati| yeṣāṃ tu rogāṇāṃ devagrahādi nimittaṃ na teṣu tathā doṣānubandhaḥ, āgantukatvāt| āgantukanijayorhyayameva bhedaḥ,-yadāgantukeṣu prathamaṃ rogodbhūtiḥ paścāddoṣānubandhaḥ, nijeṣu prāgdoṣānubandha iti| ye tu vyācakṣate,-sve ca te dhātavaśca teṣāṃ vaiṣamyamiti| teṣāṃ nāyamarthaḥ pratipāditaḥ syāt| svagrahaṇaṃ cātiricyate| yataḥ śarīrāntarāvasthāyino doṣā vātādayaḥ śarīrāntare rogaṃ janayituṃ nālam| tasmātpūrvameva vyākhyānaṃ śreyaḥ|

tatra doṣahetureva sādhāraṇo rogahetuḥ| tatra yuktimāhadoṣā eveti| doṣā eva kāraṇam, doṣāḥ kāraṇamevetyevaikaśabdābhyāmucyate| atrārthe dṛṣṭānradvayam, yathā pakṣī deśabhede'pi chāyāsambandhaṃ na tyajati, tathā vikāro doṣasambandham| yathā ca mahadādipṛthivyantaṃ kāryaṃ guṇasambandhaṃ na tyajati| kiṃ doṣajameva doṣasambandhaṃ na tyajati? netyāha-tatheti| svadhāturvaiṣamyanimittamiti yo dhāturyasya rogasyādhiṣṭhānasvenoktaḥ sa tasya svadhātuḥ tasya vaiṣamyaṃ-kṣayo vṛddhirvikṛtatvamunmārgatvaṃ vā tannimittaṃ yasya tattathā| rasajādīnāmapi doṣairvinā notpatiḥ|
