pathyaṃ-śālyādi| apathyaṃ-yavakādi| tanmiśraṃ-ekīkṛtya, bhuktaṃ samaśanaṃ matam, asminvaidyakatantre| vidyādityādi| bhuktasya-abhyavahṛtasyopari yadanyadbhojanaṃ tadadhyaśanaṃ jānīyāt| nanu, evaṃ prātarāśe kṛte yaḥ sāyamāśaḥ, tasyādhyaśanatvaṃ prasajyet| adhyaśanaṃ ca vivarjyameva| yato'nantarameva paṭhiṣyati"trīṇyapyetāni mṛtyuṃ " ityādi| vaidyakatantreṣu ca narāṇāṃ dvirāhāra upadiṣṭaḥ| bhagavān vyāso'pyavocat"sāyaṃprātarmanuṣyāṇāṃ bhojanaṃ vidhinirmitam|" iti|

samaśanaṃ lakṣayati-miśramiti| pathyaṃ-śālyādi, apathyaṃyavakādi, taddvayaṃ miśrīkṛtya bhuktaṃ-samaśanākhyam| yattu kevalamapathyaṃ tadviruddhākhyam| adhyaśanaṃ lakṣayati-vidyāditi| bhuktasyopari punarbhojanaṃadhyaśanākhyam| bhuktasya-prāgabhyavahratasyānnasya pākābhāvādāmāśaya eva sthitasya, upari-ūrdhvamanyadannamādhīyate yattat-bhuktasyopari bhojanam, pūrvānnaśeṣe bhuktamityarthaḥ| tathā ca carakaḥ (ci.a. 14/233)- "pūrvānnaśeṣe tu punarbhuktamadhyaśanaṃ matam|" iti| suśruto'pi (sū.a. 46/508)- "ajīrṇe bhujyate yattu tadadhyaśanamucyate|"iti| katham? bhūyo-bāhulyena| anena kvacidannaśeṣe bhuktamapi nādhyaśanam| yathā (saṅgrahe sū.a. 11)- "prātarāśe tvajīrṇe'pi sāyamāśo naduṣyati|" iti| tathā, atyagnau (hṛdaye ci. a. 10/84)- "muhurmuhurajīrṇe'pi bhojyānyasyopakalpayet|" iti| nanu, etadaprātpakālāśanatvādviṣamāśanādabhinnam| maivam| jīrṇe pūrvānne yadaprāptakālaṃ tadviśamāśanam, adhyaśanaṃ tajīrṇe iti bhedaḥ| nanu,"prasṛṣṭe viṇmūtre"(ślo 55) ityādinā jīrṇānnatvasyaiva kālatvaṃ vakṣayati| tatkathamaprātpakālatvam? maivam| yo hi yadā pratyahaṃ bhuṅkte sa tasya bhojanakālaḥ| prasṛṣṭaviṇmūtravādikaṃ tu tasyaiva viśeṣaṇam| tadviśiṣṭasyaiva tasya kālatvārtham| tasmāt prasṛṣṭaviṇmūtratvādiviśiṣṭe svakāle bhojanaṃkālabhojanam| prāpte'pi pūrvānnasyājīrṇatvādanutpanneṣu prasṛṣṭaviṇmūtratvādiṣu bhojanaṃ-adhyaśanam| pūrvānnasya jīrṇatvādutpanneṣvapi teṣvaprātpe svakāle bhojanaṃ-viṣamāśanam| avaśyaṃ caitadabhyupagantavyam| anyathā hi (hṛ. sū. a. 16/18)- "hyastane jīrṇa evānne sneho'cchaḥ śuddhaye bahuḥ| śamanaḥkṣudvato'nanno madhyamātraśca śasyate||" iti kālabhedo na syāt| viṣamāśanaṃ lakṣayati-akāla iti| akāle bhuktaṃ viṣamāśanam| taddvividham,-aprātpakālamatītakālaṃ ca| amātrāśanamapyakāle bhuktaṃ viṣamāśanamevetyāhabahu cālpaṃ veti| tasmāt kāle yadamātrayā bhujyate tadamātrāśanam| yaccākāle mātrayā amātrayā tadviṣamāśanam| samaśanādīnāṃ doṣamāha-trīṇīti| etānisamaśana-viṣamāśanādhyaśanāni, aniyatāyuṣāṃ mṛtyuṃ, niyatāyuṣāṃ ghorān vyādhīn sṛjanti|
