The Sanskrit edition of the Apastamba Grihya-sutra with the commentaries of Haradatta (called the Anakula-vritti) and Sudarshana (called the Grihyatatparyadarshana-vyakhya). The Apastamba Grihyasutra is a short treatise on Vedic rituals which, together with the Hiranyakeshin-grihya-sutra, belongs to the Taittiriya School of the Black Yajur-Veda. yathopadeśamiti /
yasmin yasmin karmaṇi - pradhānāhutaya ityupadśyante, yathā"anvārabdhāyāmuttarā āhutī" (āpa.gṛ.142)rititāstā ityartaḥ /
jayāḥ "cittañca cittiśca"(tai.saṃ.3-4-4) ityevamādayaḥ /
abhyātānāḥ "agnirbhūtānāṃ (tai.saṃ.3-4-5) ityādaya- /
rāṣṭrabhṛta- "ṛtāṣāḍṛtadhāme"(tai.saṃ.3-4-7) tyādayaḥ /
prajāpate na tvadetānītyeṣā prājāpatyā /

vyāhṛtayaḥ prasiddhāḥ /
vidṛtavacanaṃ samastanivṛttyartham /
eteṣāmanupadeśaḥ siddhattvāt /
sauviṣṭakṛtī aprasiddhattvāt paṭhitā /

nanveṣāpi sūtre paṭhitā -"yadasya karmaṇo'tyarīricaṃ yadvānyūnamihākaram /
agniṣṭatsviṣṭakṛdvidvāntsarva sviṣṭaṃ suhutaṃ karotu svāhe"ti sarvaprāyaścitteṣu, (āpa.śrau.3-12-9) evaṃ tarhi etat jñāpayati pākayajñavidhirayaṃ anyeṣāmapi keṣāñcit sādhāraṇa iti /
dṛśyate ca kālagireyāṇāmanena pravṛtti- vivāhādiṣu"karmasu"ye homāścoditāḥ teṣvetasya prāptyartha teṣāṃ kālopadeśārtamidam /
jayādīnāṃ purastādājyabhāgayoścopariṣṭhāt pradhānāhutaya iti nārthaḥ /
etadarthenānena tatraivobhayorapyupadiṣṭatvāt /
'agnerupasamādhānādyajyabhāgānta uttarāhutīrhutvā'iti"sthālīpākājjuhoti"ityatideśāt tatra prāptiḥ /
pārvaṇe tu tathā āgneyasthālīpākavidhau vakṣyāmaḥ /

atha yeṣvā'jyabhāgānta'iti vā'jayādi pratipadyata'iti vacanaṃ nāsti yathā paṇyaphalīkaraṇahome tatra prāptyarthemidamucyate /
vivāhādiṣu tatra vidhānamanarthakaṃ, ājyabhāgānte jayādi pratipadyata iti vacanāt paṇyahomādayo'pūrvā yāvaduktadharmāṇaḥ /
idaṃ tarhi prayodanaṃ kavyāntaroktāni nityāni naimittikānikāmyāni yadyasmadādibhiranuṣṭhīyante tadā teṣvapi etasya tantrasya pravṛttiryathā syāditi /
nanvetadapi pārvaṇātideśadarśanāt siddhamācārādyānigṛhyante iti;satyaṃ pakvahomeṣu siddhaṃ, na tvājyahomeṣu'kūśmāṇḍairghṛtami'tyādiṣu, tasyāpakvaviṣayatvāt /
vivāhādiṣu tantravidhānaniyamārtha yasmin gṛhamedhacoditāsteṣu atrāgnerupasamādhānādyājyabhāgānta iti jayādipratipadyata iti vacanaṃ tatraiva tantrapravṛttiḥ iti /
tena paṇyahomādayo yāvaduktadharmāṇa iti siddham /
pradhānāhutigrahaṇaṃ jayāderājyabhāgāntasya ca tatra prasidhdyartham /

upajuhotīti upaśabda ānantaryārthaḥ /
tena pradhānāhutyanantaramupahomāḥ /
teneśānayajñe pariṣecanānte baliharaṇaṃ bhavati /
śrāddhe vānupadeśanaṃ sthālīpāke ca bahirranupraharaṇaṃ sauviṣṭakṛtīmityucyate sviṣṭakṛddevateti jñāpanārtham /
tenājyahomasviṣṭakṛt pakvahomeṣu bhavati //7//

yathopadeśaṃ yena havirādinā vivāhādiṣu pradhānāhutaya upadiṣṭāstena tena vidhānena hutvā /
jayāḥ cittaṃ ca svāhe(tai.saṃ.#ra-4-4) ti trayodaśa /
agnirbhūtānāmadhipatissamāvatvasminniti(tai.saṃ.3-4-7) rāṣṭrabhṛto dvāviṃśatiḥ /
tatra ṛtāṣāḍityanudrutya'tasmai svāhe'tyantena prathamāhutiṃ juhoti /
'tābhyassvāhā'ityetāvataivottrām /
evamuttre pañca paryāyāḥ /
tatra'nāma sa idaṃ brahmā'ityanuṣaṅgaḥ /
'tābhyaḥ svāhā'iti ca /
'bhuvanasya pate... svastibhisvāhā'iti trayodaśī /
'parameṣṭhī'tyādayaḥ pūrvavaccatvāraḥ paryāyāḥ /
'sano bhuvanasya pate..... yaccha svāhā'iti dvāviṃśī /
'prajāpate na tvetāni'iti ṛkprājāpatyā /
prājāpatyayarcā valmīkavapāyāmavanayet'(tai.brā.3-7-2) iti śruteḥ /

devatājñānasya karmāṅgatvamapi"yo ha aviditārṣeyacchandodevatābrāhmaṇena mantreṇa yājayati vādhyāpayati sthāṇumṛcchati"ityādiśruteḥ, aviditvā ṝṣiṃ chando daivataṃ yogameva ca /

yo'dhyāpayejjapedvāpi pāpīyān jāyate tu saḥ //

ato yatrarṣe yādijñānānāṃ naivaṃvidhiḥ tatra tāni pākṣikāṇīti gamyate /
evametā jayādikā

aṣṭapañcāśadāhutīḥ pradhānahomānantaramupajuhot /
yatrāpi sarpabalāyādau pārvaṇātidiṣṭaḥ sviṣṭakṛta tatrāpi pradhānāhutyanantaramevaitāḥ /
tataḥ sviṣṭakṛt; ktvāpratyatyāt, upopasargācca //


kecit-sviṣṭakṛto'nantaraṃ jayādayaḥ'agniḥ sviṣṭakadvitīya- (āpa.gṛ.7-7) iti sviṣṭakṛta- pradhānatulyadharmatvajñāpanāditi /

nanu-yadyatyaiva sarvapradhānahomānantara sādhāraṇyena jayādaya upadiṣṭāḥ kimartha tatra tatra'jayādi pratipadyate'iti vacanam ? ucyate-yatraitadvacanaṃ nāsti pārvaṇādau na tatra jayādaya ityevamartham /
evaṃ tarhyatra sādhāraṇavidhānamevānarthakam /
na ;kevalaṃ jayādivijhyarthatvāt /
anyathā vivāhādā veteṣvanvārambho'pi syāt /
kiñca asminnasatitatra tatra'jayābhyātānāni'tyādimantrasannāma ityante gururgranthaḥ punaḥ punaḥ paṭhitavyassyāt /
tasmādanvārambhādinivṛttyarta granthalāghavārtha cedaṃ sādhāraṇavidhānam /

kecit- yatrājyabhāgāntaṃ purastāttantraṃ tatra sarvatra jayādyuttaratantram /
etayormadhye'yathopadeśaṃ pradhānāhutīḥ'ityādiśeṣeṇa pradhānahomānāṃ vidhānāt /
āgneye'pi ca sthālīpāke jayādirvidyata eva,'siddhamuttaram'(āpa.gṛ.7-14) iti padadvayasūtreṇa jayādyuttaratantropadeśāt

māsiśrāddhe ddhādau ca'pārvaṇena'(āpa.gṛ.7-23) ityātideśāt /
ājyahomeṣu jayādyanantaraṃ śrautavat tūṣṇīṃ paridhīnagnau prahṛtya tān darvīsaṃsrāveṇābhijuhoti;paridhitatsaṃskārāṇāṃ śrautavadabhyanujñānasyoktatvāt, kṛtakāryāṇāṃ pratipattyapekṣatvāt ācārācca /
śamyāścet, asmin kāle apohyā;'atha śamyā upodya'(bau.gṛ.1-4-37) iti bodhāyanavacanāt, ācārācca //7//
