These photos were taken at the Tissamaharama Raja Maha Vihara situated in Sri Lanka, which includes a large Stupa that can be seen from afar. The whole complex is an ancient Buddhist temple which can be dated to the 3rd century BC. According to Theravada traditions, the site was visited by the historical Buddha who meditated at the Tissamaharama Stupa together with 500 Arhats (one who has achieved spiritual enlightenment).
