Meylang (मेलाङ) refers to a “copper oven to keep the dish pots warmer”. It is a Nepali word which can also be transliterated as Meylanga, Melang, Melanga, Melāṅg, Meylana, Meylāṅg, Meylāṅga, Melāṅga, Melāṅa, or Melana.
The text in Devanagari reads:
मेलाङ - खानाको भांडो/भाण्डो तताई राख्न प्रयोग गरिने तामाको भांडो/भाण्डो
Transliteration (IAST):
melāṅa - khānāko bhāṃḍo/bhāṇḍo tatāī rākhna prayoga garine tāmāko bhāṃḍo/bhāṇḍo.
Plain text (initially IAST, brackets indicate Hunterian):
melana [melang] - khanako bhamdo/bhando tatai rakhna ... [prayog] ... [tamako] bhamdo/bhando.
Gallery information:
The Sherpa people refers to one of the indigenous ethnic group from Nepal (the Himalayan regions) who migrated out of Tibet as early as the 13th century. Their religion is Tibetan Buddhism (particularly Nyingma) and they worship mountains as Gods pr protector deities. Sherpas speak Sino-Tibetan which represents a dialect of Tibetan.
