Fig. 166: This is the shrine dedicated to Siddha Karuvurar in the Brahadishvara temple, Tanjavur. It is obviously a later addition located behind the sanctum of Brahadishvara temple complex of Tanjavur. Inside this shrine, a statue of Siddha Karuvurar seated in a siddhasana pose is installed and is offered daily worship by the devotees. It is an open shrine without any doors.

The Siddha/Natha tradition symbolize the most comprehensive understanding and application of the theoretical and methodological tenets of Tantric philosophy. There are many Siddha-centres all over the Tamilnadu. The temples in Tamil-Nadu contain the sculptures depicting the Tantric rites and the images of the venerated Siddhas in it.
