Image title: Figure 108. Navagraha Sannidhi

Description of the photo

This is a constant feature of most of the old temples. The Navagrahas or the nine planets are intimately associated with our lives and destinies. Pleasing many of these powerful Grahas is considered important or they could have ill effects on you. Hence worship of Sani Bhagvan, Rahu and Ketu are all very common. In the above photo Sani’s Vigraha can be seen which is draped in black. The Gurukkal explained that offering worship to Sani on Saturdays by lighting lamps with sesame oil is a common feature in these temples. Further each of the Grahas have to be worshipped to get their grace in our lives.
