Description of the photo

The Sannidhi of Tripurasundari standing in Samabhanga posture. She has four hands. The main right and left hands are in Abhaya and Varada. The other two right and left hands seem to be holding Parasu and Pasa. Her eyes are closed in a meditative posture. After this Vigraha are the Vigrahas of Sri Sundari and Sri Ganapati.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
