He is standing in Ayata Sthana, his Siras is in Sama, Urah [uras] is in Sama, Parsva is unbent, Kati is in Udvahita on right side, right leg is straight and unbent, left leg is at ease. Right Uru is in Stambhana, right Janu is in Sama, right Jangha is unbent, right Pada is in Sama. Left Janu as slightly bent, left Pada is in Sama. His right hand is holding a stick with a whip and his left hand is resting on a cow which is standing behind him. This is an Abhanga posture.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
