A beautiful Narthaki holding Camaram [Camara] with one hand and her other hand is on Uru. She is in Ayata Sthana, right leg straight, right Uru is in Stambhana, right Janu is in Sama, right Jangha is unbent, right Pada is in Sama. Left leg is kept at ease, left Janu is slightly bent, left Pada is in Sama. Siras is in Ancita, Urah [uras] is in Sama, Parsva is unbent, Kati is lifted on the right side. She is exhibiting Abhanga posture. She is standing on a Yali.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
