Above Krsna is the sculpture of a dancing girl who is holding a Vina. Her Siras, Urah [uras] are in Sama, Parsva is unbent, Kati is in Udvahita on the left side. Both hands are playing on the Vina. The body is in (or assuming) Vaisnava Sthana -the feet are 2 Talas apart, one foot is in natural position and the other is obliquely placed pointing sideways. Her costume and jewellery is exquisitely carved and visible. She has a hair bun on the right side of her head which seems to be the style of Dasis in those days.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
