Up on the same pillar is the figure of Caturbhuja Venu Gopala. Front two hands are holding the flute where as the back hands are having Cakra and Sankha. His left leg is straight and unbent where as his right leg is crossed in front Svastika. We can see him surrounded by cows who are listening to his music.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
