On the same pillar on the right side of the main sculpture is the figure of Vennai Gopala. At the top of the pillar is the sculpture of Sri Rama and Sita. Could be again a scene from the marriage. Sita’s left hand is in Rama’s right hand. Both are in Ayata Sthana. Sita’s right hand is in Lata. Rama’s left hand is holding a bow.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
