A beautiful sculpture of Caturbhuja Garudan on the left side. Here Garudan’s main hands are on his Uru. His legs are in Parsva suci (one knee touching the ground). He is performing Kuncita Karana Rest are like the other figure on the west side. To Garudan’s left is Laksmi Narayana. Narayana has two hands. His right hand is in Abhaya, left is holding Laksmi. He is sitting in Sukhasana with Laksmi seated on his left lap. Laksmi’s left hand is in Lata, right hand is not clear, looks like Jnana Mudra.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
