This lady is holding a Camaram [Camara] with her right hand. Her left hand is on the Uru. Her Parsva is in Samunnata on the right side. Her Urah [uras] is in Sama. Her Kati is in Udvahita on the left side. The left leg is straight and unbent. Uru is in Stambhana, Janu is in Sama, left Pada is in Sama. Right leg is crossed in front Svastika. Right Pada is in Agratala. Right Jangha is in Avartita. Right Janu is in Unnata slightly. Siras seems to be in Sama. Cannot identify any Cari or a Karana.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
