The Siras is in Udvahita (lifted up as if in pride), right side Parsva is raised in Sannata and left side in in Nata, the hands are performing Nrtta Hasta - Dandapaksa with a slight variation of the left hand which is pointing to the head. Kati is Udvahita on left side. Right Uru is raised, right Janu is in Unnata, right Jangha is in Ksipta–the leg is thrown like a stick. Left Janu is in Ardhakuncita, left Jangha is in Nata, left Pada is in Sama and is in Parsva.

The above dancing figure is performing the Dandapada Cari in which, “The foot in Nupurapadika Cari is to be stretched and then quickly to turn.” This can be identified as Dandapada Karana (no.82). According to the Natya Sastra, “After performing Nupura Cari, Dandapada Cari should be done and Avidha hand should be shown quickly.” Avidha meaning the hand should be moved inwards immediately.

This Karana when performed continuously gives a very majestic appearance. The hands which are thrown out have the appearance of a stick or Danda. The hands move in the opposite side of the legs as seen in the photograph.
