A royal saint or devotee having flowing moustache and a well-trimmed beard stands on a double-lotus pedestal mounted on a square block with a flat base. Both the hands are joined against the breast in anjali-mudra. A dagger is tucked to the girdle on the right.

लहरदार मूंछों और अच्छे से संवारी गई दाढ़ी से युक्त संत या उपासक की यह प्रतिमा सपाट आधार से युक्त वर्गाकार खंड पर स्थापित दोहरे कमल वाली पीठिका पर खड़ी है। इसके दोनों हाथ अंजलि मुद्रा में जुड़े हुए हैं। कमरबंद में दाहिनी ओर कृपाण दिखलाई दे रही है।

Kansa, avapti sa. 57.16/2 Lahradar moonchon aur achchhe se sanvari gai dadhi se yukt sant ya upasak ki yah pratima sapaat aadhar se yukt vargakar khand par sthapit dohre kamal wali pithika par khadi hai. Iske donon hath anjali mudra mein jude hue hain. Kamarband mein dahini or kripan dikhlai de rahi hai.

These photographs are from the section “Bronze images” (kamsya) within the National Museum of New Delhi (India). Bronze images, small for domestic shrines or larger and hollow, are made using the lost wax process (madhuchista-vidhana). Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. The oldest group of bronze sculptures from the Indian subcontinent date back to the 3rd millennium B.C.E.
