This wood sculpture shows an image of Bhairav, from the 18th-century A.D.—In Nepal’s religious, cultural, aesthetic context Bhairav is considered one of the ferocious manifestations of Shiva. This image of Bhairav displayed is based on a tremendous Tantric impact with a crown of severed human heads and serpentine earrings. This form of Bhairav is very popular in Nepal.

Bhairav  can also be spelled as Bhairava (भैरव).
