Buddha Image — This wooden image was found after when it was washed off to the eastern shore during the tsunami event in 2004. The Right hand of the image depicts the abhaya mudra could nor be and rest of the image including the upper part, right hand and the lower part are badly damaged. The style of the statue could not be identified due to this reason. However the arrangement of the Pleats of the robe of the image suggests that it could be a production of Indonesia or Myanmar. The date of the image is uncertain.

Note: In Sanskrit this would be denoted as Buddhapratimā (बुद्धप्रतिमा, buddha-pratima).

බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාව — මෙම දැවමය ප්‍රතිමාව වර්ෂ 2004 දී සුනාමි ව්‍යවසනයෙන් නැගෙනහිර වෙරළට ගොඩ ගසා තිබිය දී සොයා ගනු ලැබූවකි. දකුණු අතින් අභය මුද්‍රාව දරණ මෙම හිටි බුද්ධ ප්‍රතිමාවේ හිස, පාදම මෙන්ම දකුණට ද හානි වී ඇති හෙයින් නිශ්චිත ශෛලිය දැක්විය නොහැකි වුව ද, සිවුරේ රැළි සහ රටා මෝස්තර අනුව ඉන්දුනීසියානු හෝ මියන්මාරයේ නිපදවන ලද්දක් බව පෙන්වා දෙයි. ප්‍රතිමාවේ කාල නිර්ණය අවිනිශ්චිත ය.

These photos were taken at the Maritime Museum in Galle (Sri Lanka) which include objects recovered from the 2nd century B.C. Godawaya shipwreck. The Maritime Museum is housed in Galle's historic Dutch warehouse (built in 1671) and opened its doors on May 9, 1992. The Maritime Archaeology Museum is serving as a centre of education for various groups of visitors and researchers of Southern region of Sri Lanka.
