Wooden Handle of an Indo-Arabian anchor — This was discovered in 1997 from sea around the black frot, near the "Kamba Bandina Gala " in Galle. It was conserved by Maririme Museum Western in Western Australia and was dated around 480 years, before present. Anchors of Indo-Arab origin were used from the 6th-16th century. The Maritime Museum is housed in Galle's historic Dutch warehouse (built in 1671) and opened its doors on May 9, 1992. The Maritime Archaeology Museum is serving as a centre of education for various groups of visitors and researchers of Southern region of Sri Lanka.
