Trilingual slab inscription — This slab contains an inscription which was drafted in 1409 CE in three languages i.e Persian, Chine se and Tamil. It was originally drafted in china and then brought to Sri lanka to be set up by Admiral Zen He. The text describes the objects brought to the country in order to venerate the God Thenavarai Narayanar (the god of Devinuwara). This red sandstone słab was discovered by the District Engineer H.F, Tomalin at a location on Cripps road, Galle in the year 1911.

Note: In Sanskrit, a “slab inscription” would be denoted as Lipi (लिपि)

ත්‍රි භාෂා පුවරු ලිපිය — මෙම පුවරුවේ ක්‍රිස්තු වර්ෂ 1409 දී කෙටුම්පත් කරන ලද බවට සැලකෙන පර්සියානු, චීන සහ දෙමළ යන භාෂා තුනෙන් රචනා කරන ලද ලිපියක් කොටා තිබේ. චීනයේ දී රචනා කොට මෙරටට ගෙනෙන ලද මෙම පුවරුව පිහිටු වන ලද්දේ ෂේන් හ නම් වූ අද්මිරාල්වරයා විසිනි. හින්දු දෙවිවරුන්ගේ ආශිර්වාදය ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරමින් තේනවරායි නයනාර් * (දෙවුන්දර දෙවියන්) පිදීම පිණිස ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට එවන ලද පූජා භාණ්ඩ පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු මෙම ලිපියේ සඳහන් වේ. රතු වැලි ගලින් නිර්මාණය කර ඇති මෙම ලිපිය 1911 වර්ෂයේ දිස්ත්‍රික් ඉංජිනේරු එච්. එෆ්. ටොමලින් විසින් ගාල්ලේ ක්‍රිප්ස් පාරේ තිබී සොයා ගන්නා ලදී.

tri bhāṣā puvaru lipiya — mema puvaruvē kristu varṣa 1409 dī keṭumpat karana lada bavaṭa sælakena parsiyānu, chīna saha demaḷa yana bhāṣā tunen rachanā karana lada lipiyak koṭā tibē. chīnayē dī rachanā koṭa meraṭaṭa genena lada mema puvaruva pihiṭu vana laddē ṣēn ha nam vū admirālvarayā visini. hindu devivarungē āśirvādaya prārthanā karamin tēnavarāyi nayanār * (devundara deviyan) pidīma piṇisa śrī laṅkāvaṭa evana lada pūjā bhāṇḍa piḷibanda toraturu mema lipiyē sandahan vē. ratu væli galin nirmāṇaya kara æti mema lipiya 1911 varṣayē distrik iṅjinēru ech. ef. ṭomalin visin gāllē krips pārē tibī soyā gannā ladī.

These photos were taken at the Maritime Museum in Galle (Sri Lanka) which include objects recovered from the 2nd century B.C. Godawaya shipwreck. The Maritime Museum is housed in Galle's historic Dutch warehouse (built in 1671) and opened its doors on May 9, 1992. The Maritime Archaeology Museum is serving as a centre of education for various groups of visitors and researchers of Southern region of Sri Lanka.
