Reign — Sena III (938-946.A.D.)
Period — 10th century A.D.

Contents—It mentions of the rules and regulations to be adhered to by the monks residing in the Dakkinagiri Monastery, temple officials, courtiers assigned to temple duties and temple workers. The inscription also mentions that any persons who break these rules and regulations will not have the fortune to see the Maitri Bodhisatva

කලුදිය පොකුණ පුවරු ලිපිය
kaludiya pokuṇa puvaru lipiya
kaludiya pokuna puvaru lipiya

Tamil Transcription:
களுதிய பொகுன பாறைக் கல்வெட்டு
kaḷutiya-pokuṉa pāṟaik kalveṭṭu
kaluthiya poguna paraig kalvettu

Gallery information:

These photos are taken at and around the Archaeological Site of Kaludiya Pokuna (lit. “black lake”), which is situated to the east of Dambulla and the Kandalama Lake (in Sri Lanka). The whole site is covered in thick jungle forest and archaeological excavations are still ongoing. Besides the ruins of various structures such as a Stupa, there are also caves with inscriptions (dating to the 10th century) written in Medieval Sinhala which mentions the conduct and rules for monks.
