Sugandawala (सुगन्धवाला) in Nepali refers to the plant Valeriana wallichii or “Indian valerian” from the Valerianaceae or “valerian family”. It is is mentioned as one of the “Protected plants of Nepal”. The photo also depicts a Rhizome (कन्द, kand/kanda).

The word Sugandawala can also be transliterated as Sugandawālā, Sugandavālā or Sugandavala.
