This bronze sculpture shows an image of Nritya Bhairav, from the 19th century A.D.—Bhairava as a terrific manifestation of Shiva is very popular in Nepal. This image of Bhairava is shown in dancing posture with his hands playing a two-faced drum, the madala (mādala).
Nritya Bhairav can also be spelled as Nrtya, Bhairab, Bhairaba or Nṛtya Bhairava (नृत्य भैरव).
