This is a depiction of Vessabhu Buddha: One of the twenty-eight Buddhas, according to the Buddhavamsa of the Pali canon. In other words: one of the twenty-seven Buddhas who preceded the historical Gautama Buddha.

Sinhala: වෙස්සභු (Wessabhu)

ජෝස්කෙම සන හට මෙන් කළ
වෙස්සභූ මුණි රජ වඳිනෙමි

Transliteration:

jōskema sana haṭa men kaḷa
vessabhū muṇi raja vandinemi

Transliteration:

joskema sana hata men kala
vessabhu muni raja vandinemi

Gallery information:

These photos show the Habarana Tampita Rajamaha Vihara [Viharaya] which is a small Buddhist temple situated in Habarana (Sri Lanka) built during the Kandyan era. Technically, a “Tampita Vihara [Viharaya]” refers to a certain structure built on a wooden platform which itself rests on stones. According to tradition, this temple was built by king Vasabha (65-109 AD) of the Anuradhapura kingdom.
