Many shops and stores are found around the Boudhanath Stupa. Some of them focus on tourist while many others sell various Buddhist and Dharma related religious objects. One of them is called “Dharma articles & Thanka trades” and can be found on the main street next to the Stupa. Most of the shops directly encircling the Boudhanath Stupa are Tibetan owned.

The Boudhanath Stupa is an important destination for Buddhist religious followers situated in the Kathmandu valley. This ancient Stupa (holy burial mound) dates to at least the 7th century and is said to contain the remains of Kassapa Buddha, who is generally believed to be the third of the five Buddhas of the present aeon.
