罪性 [zui xing]—The nature of defilement – [Term] It is the inherent nature of karmic defilement (罪業 [zui ye]). The inherent nature of karmic defilement (罪業 [zui ye]) is empty (空 [kong]) and cannot be apprehended. Mohe Zhiguan (止觀 [zhi guan]) Volume 4 states: "One who contemplates the emptiness of the nature of defilement (空 [kong]) fully comprehends that the minds of greed (貪欲 [tan yu]) and hatred (瞋恚 [chen hui]) are all gates to tranquility (寂靜門 [ji jing men])."
