諄 [zhūn] [zhun]—
[動 [dong]] (Verb)
1. To earnestly admonish and advise (叮嚀告諭 [ding ning gao yu]), or to sincerely persuade (懇切勸導 [ken qie quan dao]).
《說文解字 [shuo wen jie zi]．言部 [yan bu]》 (Shuowen Jiezi, Yan Rad.): "(zhūn), to thoroughly inform and enlighten (告曉之孰也 [gao xiao zhi shu ye])."
《史記 [shi ji]．卷一一七 [juan yi yi qi]．司馬相如傳 [si ma xiang ru chuan]》 (Shiji, Vol. 117, Biography of Sima Xiangru): "Its regulations are clear (厥之有章 [jue zhi you zhang]), no need for repeated admonitions (不必 [bu bi])."
2. To assist (輔佐 [fu zuo]).

[形 [xing]] (Adjective)
1. The appearance of being tireless in teaching (誨人不倦的樣子 [hui ren bu juan de yang zi]).
E.g., 教誨 [jiao hui] (zhūnzhūn jiàohuì) - earnest teachings, patiently admonishing.
2. The appearance of being loyal (忠誠 [zhong cheng]) and cautious (謹慎 [jin shen]).
Tang Dynasty (唐 [tang]). Han Yu's (韓愈 [han yu]) poem "Farewell to Master Hui" (送惠師 [song hui shi]): "I despise the idle wanderers (吾嫉惰遊者 [wu ji duo you zhe]), but pity you for being foolish yet earnest/sincere (憐子愚且 [lian zi yu qie])."
諄：[動]
1.叮嚀告諭、懇切勸導。《說文解字．言部》：「諄，告曉之孰也。」《史記．卷一一七．司馬相如傳》：「厥之有章，不必諄諄。」
2.輔佐。《國語．晉語九》：「曾孫蒯聵以諄趙鞅之故，敢昭告于皇祖文王、烈祖康叔、文祖襄公、昭考靈公。」

1.誨人不倦的樣子。如：「諄諄教誨」。

準 [zhǔn] [zhun]—
[形 [xing]] (Adjective)
1. Level; flat. From `Shuowen Jiezi` (`說文解字 [shuo wen jie zi]．水部 [shui bu]`): "`` (`zhǔn`), level." Duan Yucai's (`段玉裁 [duan yu cai]`) note in `Qing` (`清 [qing]`) dynasty: "Refers to the levelness of water. Nothing in the world is as level as water."
2. Future; prospective; soon to become. For example: `新娘 [xin niang]` (prospective bride), `女婿 [nu xu]` (prospective son-in-law), `博士 [bo shi]` (prospective PhD candidate).
3. That can serve as a rule or standard. For example: `則 [ze]` (criterion, standard, norm).
[副 [fu]] (Adverb)
1. Accurately; precisely; correctly. For example: `瞄目標 [miao mu biao]` (to aim accurately at the target), `猜得 [cai de]` (to guess accurately/correctly).
2. Definitely; certainly. For example: `到時他會來的 [dao shi ta hui lai de]！` (He will definitely come when the time comes!).
[動 [dong]] (Verb)
1. To emulate; to follow the example of; to imitate. `Wen Xuan` (`文選 [wen xuan]．左思 [zuo si]．詠史詩八首之一 [yong shi shi ba shou zhi yi]`): "His treatise emulates `Guo Qin` (`過秦 [guo qin]`), his rhapsody imitates `Zixu` (`子虛 [zi xu]`)." `Xin Tang Shu` (`新唐書 [xin tang shu]．卷八五 [juan ba wu]．竇建德傳 [dou jian de chuan]`): "He first established his capital in `Leshou` (`樂壽 [le shou]`), named it `Jincheng Gong` (`金城宮 [jin cheng gong]`), appointed all officials, following the precedents of `Kaihuang` (`開皇 [kai huang]`) era."
2. To prepare. For example: `備 [bei]` (to prepare).
3. To measure; to gauge. `Song Shi` (`宋史 [song shi]．卷三三八 [juan san san ba]．蘇軾傳 [su shi chuan]`): "When `Shi` (`軾 [shi]`) first arrived in `Ying` (`潁 [ying]`), he sent officials to measure it with a level, and the high water of the `Huai` (`淮 [huai]`) River was nearly one `zhang` (`丈 [zhang]`) higher than the new canal."
4. To follow; to comply with; to apply by analogy. Mostly used in official documents. For example: `用 [yong]` (to apply mutatis mutandis, to apply by analogy). Also written as `准 [zhun]` (`zhǔn`).
[名 [ming]] (Noun)
1. An ancient instrument for measuring levelness. `Han Shu` (`漢書 [han shu]．卷二一 [juan er yi]．律曆志上 [lu li zhi shang]`): "The `zhǔn` (``) is used to measure levelness and ensure correctness."
2. A rule; a standard; a norm. For example: `標 [biao]` (standard, criterion). `Han Shu` (`漢書 [han shu]．卷六五 [juan liu wu]．東方朔傳 [dong fang shuo chuan]`): "To take morality as beauty, and benevolence and righteousness as the standard."
3. A target; a bullseye. For example: `的 [de]` (target, bullseye).
4. Nose. `Shi Ji` (`史記 [shi ji]．卷八 [juan ba]．高祖本紀 [gao zu ben ji]`): "`Gaozu` (`高祖 [gao zu]`) was a man with a prominent nose (`隆 [long]`) and a dragon-like countenance (`龍顏 [long yan]`)." `Qing` (`清 [qing]`) dynasty, Ji Xiaolan (`紀昀 [ji yun]`), `Yuewei Caotang Biji` (`閱微草堂筆記 [yue wei cao tang bi ji]．卷五 [juan wu]．灤陽消夏錄五 [luan yang xiao xia lu wu]`): "The dog he kept suddenly stood up and growled furiously, embracing and biting the woman's face with its claws, tearing her nose (`鼻 [bi]`) and blinding one of her eyes."
