種智 [zhong zhi]—(Zhǒngzhì) — [Term] The Buddha's Wisdom of All Kinds (一切 [yi qie]). The Buddha's wisdom knows all kinds of phenomena (一切種種之法 [yi qie zhong zhong zhi fa]), hence it is called the Wisdom of All Kinds. The Mahāprajñāpāramitā Upadeśa (智度論 [zhi du lun]) Volume 27 states: "The Wisdom of All Kinds is the domain of a Buddha. Śrāvakas (聲聞 [sheng wen]) and Pratyekabuddhas (辟支佛 [pi zhi fu]) only possess a general wisdom of all phenomena (總一切智 [zong yi qie zhi]), but do not have the Wisdom of All Kinds." Fuxing (輔行 [fu xing]) Volume 1 states: "An enlightened one (覺者 [jue zhe]) is great clarity, understanding, and directness. Similarly, now, with the ten epithets (十號 [shi hao]) fully complete, the Wisdom of All Kinds is perfectly luminous."
