正午 [zhèng wǔ] [zheng wu]—
Noon (中午十二點鐘 [zhong wu shi er dian zhong]). Tang Dynasty, Li Kuo's "On the Road in Summer" (唐 [tang]．李廓 [li kuo]〈夏日途中 [xia ri tu zhong]〉) poem: "Trees enclose the road with scorching wind, travelers are scarce at midday (樹夾炎風路 [shu jia yan feng lu]，行人稀 [xing ren xi])." The 16th chapter of "A Brief History of Civilization" (《文明小史 [wen ming xiao shi]》第一六回 [di yi liu hui]): "All day long, only two meals are eaten, one meal at midday (一頓飯 [yi dun fan]) every day, and one meal at seven o'clock in the evening (黑天七點鐘一頓 [hei tian qi dian zhong yi dun])."
