證悟 [zheng wu]—Realization — [Term] To attain a verified and awakened understanding of the truth (真理 [zhen li]) through right wisdom (正智 [zheng zhi]). The Commentary on the Śrīmālādevī Siṃhanāda Sūtra (勝鬘寶窟 [sheng man bao ku]) states: 'To embrace the true Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]) and realize the principle (理 [li]).' The General Preface to the Sources of Chan (禪源都序 [chan yuan dou xu]) states: 'Simply reading characters and studying scriptures (看經 [kan jing]) does not fundamentally lead to enlightenment.'

證悟—【術語】以正智於真理證知悟解也。勝鬘寶窟中本曰:「攝受正法,證悟於理。」禪源都序上曰:「識字看經元不證悟。」

Noon (中午十二點鐘 [zhong wu shi er dian zhong]). Tang Dynasty, Li Kuo's "On the Road in Summer" (唐 [tang].李廓 [li kuo]〈夏日途中 [xia ri tu zhong]〉) poem: "Trees enclose the road with scorching wind, travelers are scarce at midday (樹夾炎風路 [shu jia yan feng lu],行人稀 [xing ren xi])." The 16th chapter of "A Brief History of Civilization" (《文明小史 [wen ming xiao shi]》第一六回 [di yi liu hui]): "All day long, only two meals are eaten, one meal at midday (一頓飯 [yi dun fan]) every day, and one meal at seven o'clock in the evening (黑天七點鐘一頓 [hei tian qi dian zhong yi dun])."
